Up for sale, a 2000 Rickenbacker 650D Dakota in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. A discontinued model that had a limited production run, the 650D features only American farm-grown woods, with solid Walnut body wings, complemented by an Eastern Rock Maple neck running the full length of the guitar. The Rickenbacker HB-1 humbuckers are wound fairly hot, with a similar tonal profile to Rickenbacker's Hi-Gain pickup, yet with added warmth and none of the inherent hum that comes from single coils. Weighing 7lbs 8oz, this Rickenbacker has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action and accurate intonation. The maple neck has a round C-shaped profile carve with notable substance and generous shoulder, measuring .895" deep at the 1st fret and .905" at the 12th. On the thick slab 24 fret maple fretboard, the medium jumbo frets have more meat and crown than typical Rickenbacker fretwire, showing only light wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-6. There is also faint finger wear through the thin satin finish on the fretboard from frets 1-12. The guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 3/4" in width, and the headstock features walnut wings and original Schaller tuning machines that turn smoothly and hold pitch reliably. All of the electronics work as intended, and the chrome plating on the hardware is gleaming including the pickguard, quartet of barrel knobs, and heavy duty bridge. The bridge has roller saddles, and the string spacing is adjustable to taste. Cosmetic wear on the satin finish is limited to just a few minor marks and faint finish scratches on the body as a whole. The original hardshell case is included.
