Up for sale, a 2000 Gibson Les Paul Standard Plus in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. The carved maple cap on this upper tiered "Plus" iteration of the Standard is an absolute knock-out, with very straight and tight three-dimensional tiger flame extending liberally across the top, and broad bookmatched grain running perpendicular to the flame.
Weighing 10lbs 4oz, this Les Paul is a particularly punchy and round-sounding instrument with great sustain, due in part to the un-chambered mahogany body, which also lends this Standard a certain smooth growl and warmth. The stock humbuckers have a wide tonal palette, with the 490R neck pickup featuring Alnico II magnets and a more vintage-spec, PAF-style sonic range, while the Alnico V magnet 498T bridge pickup is overwound for extra power and authority. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Les Paul Standard is dialed in with 10-46 strings, slinky action, and solid intonation.
The one-piece mahogany neck has a slender '60s-style C profile carve with a fast, effortless feel and more roundness and shoulder as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .810" deep at the 1st fret and .950" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features pearloid trapezoid inlay, and the stock frets retain their full factory height with well-rounded crowns. The frets show moderate wear beneath the G and B strings on frets 1-3, with fainter wear extending to fret 7. This Les Paul plays cleanly up the straight neck with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod, and the nut has Gibson's traditional 1 11/16" width. The headstock retains the original "Standard" truss rod cover, along with fairly uncommon and original Grover Rotomatic tuning machines.
All of the electronics work as they should, and the Gibson USA humbucker pair is wired to the original harness with untouched solder joints. The chrome hardware is positively gleaming, and all of the original plastic parts are present.
The Tobacco Sunburst gloss nitro lacquer finish is 100% original, framed by lightly ambered body and neck binding. The top is extremely clean with only a couple tiny nicks, and the guitar has just a few light finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss on the back, with some minor scuffing and guitar stand wear on the lower bout body edge and binding. The neck profile has a clean, smooth nitro gloss finish, free of palm wear.
The original brown tolex Gibson USA hardshell case is included.
