Up for sale, a 2000 Gibson ES-335 Dot in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. A discontinued iteration of the ES-335 platform, this guitar captures many finer points of a circa 1959-62 ES-335 including dot inlay on the bound rosewood fingerboard, rounded "Mickey Mouse" ear body horns, and a pair of '57 Classic PAF humbuckers. Tonewoods include figured curly maple semi-hollow construction with a maple center block, paired with a one-piece mahogany neck. The '57 Classic PAF humbuckers deliver a smooth bass register, tailored midrange, and sweet, articulate trebles, consistent with Gibson's golden era vintage "Patent Applied For" pickups. The pickups have ample clarity and power, with smooth growl in the bridge position and a sweet, round neck pickup that has great bloom and complex harmonic content. Weighing 8lbs 8oz, this ES-335 Dot has a defined and balanced acoustic voice that translates well through the pickups, and it's easy to see why the ES-335 has historically been one of Gibson's most versatile models, adopted by a wide range of genres for its ability to provide everything from nuanced cleans to rich, powerful drive. We've had this ES-335 professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action and accurate intonation. The one-piece mahogany neck has a slender C-shaped carve with round shoulders in every register, measuring .820" deep at the 1st fret and .900" at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard features dot inlay and practically perfect slender fretwire that has its full factory height and perfectly rounded crowns. The guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock is fitted with nickel-plated Grover Rotomatic tuners. On the body, all of the electronics work as intended, with individual Volume and Tone controls for each pickup. The '57 Classic PAF stickers are fully intact on the pickup baseplates, and the neck pickup route reveals the vintage-spec long tenon joint too. Hardware includes the original nickel-plated ABR-1 bridge and a replacement chrome stopbar tailpiece. Plastics comprise the original quartet of black bonnet knobs and four-ply wide bevel pickguard which exhibits some requisite light pick scuffing. The gloss nitro lacquer Sunburst finish highlights the broad curly maple figuring which extends evenly across the body, and cosmetic wear is limited to a small area of very light buckle rash central to the back, and just a few additional faint finish scratches and minor marks, also mostly relegated to the back. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless. The original brown tolex Gibson hardshell case with pink plush interior is included.
