Up for sale, a 2000 Gibson Custom Shop Firebird VII in excellent condition and in perfect working order with a Green Metalflake Sparkle nitro lacquer finish and original hardshell case. Ostensibly a one-off Custom Shop instrument, the finish is original and striking in its presentation. This Firebird is faithful to the model's 1963-64 specifications, boasting vintage spec 'banjo' tuners and a long frame Maestro Lyre Vibrola.

Tonewoods include 9-ply mahogany/walnut neck through construction, with mahogany body wings and an ebony fingerboard, yielding plenty of foundational warmth and growl, with the detail and glassy immediacy of the ebony board. The trio of Firebird pickups are wound particularly hot, with a distinct tonal character that sets them apart from a traditional mini humbucker. Whether you're looking for authoritative, cutting cleans or saturated overdriven roar, these pickups achieve a range of tones applicable to a wide swath of genres. Weighing 8lbs 6oz, we've had this Custom Shop Firebird professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action and accurate intonation.

The neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve at the nut, with full shoulders in every register and notable heft further up the fretboard, filling out to “baseball bat”-worthy chunk from the 7th fret and beyond, measuring .835" deep at the 1st fret and .985" at the 12th. The bound ebony fretboard features pearl block inlay and flawless medium frets which have plenty of meat, retaining their full factory height and well-rounded crowns. The guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width. On the headstock, the banjo tuners turn smoothly, and the black truss rod cover with "Gibson" silkscreen logo tops things off. The Gibson Custom Shop badge is also present on the back of the headstock.

All of the electronics work as they should, with untouched solder joints on the Gibson-embossed Alpha pots. Hardware includes the ABR-1 bridge and long frame Vibrola tailpiece, and the gold plating has plenty of shine, with light wear on the vibrato comb and two of the pickup covers. Original plastics comprise the multi-ply pickguard with Firebird graphic and the quartet of gold reflector cap knobs.

The Green Metalflake Sparkle Burst nitro lacquer finish has great dimension and depth, and there is some pick wear into the sparkle just north of the middle pickup, and two small spots of touch-up on the treble-side edge of the headstock. Cosmetic wear is otherwise limited to light finish checking on either side of the nut, a couple small dings on the body perimeter, and a few light scuffs in the clear coat central to the lower bout on the back. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.

The original brown tolex Gibson USA hardshell case with pink plush interior is included.
