Up for sale, a 2000 Fender Yngwie Malmsteen Signature Stratocaster model ST68-185YM in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original tweed hardshell case. This top tier “Crafted in Japan” Malmsteen Signature features a scalloped fretboard with jumbo fretwire, a brass nut, Anchor Mounted four-bolt neck joint, and a trio of USA-made DiMarzio pickups.Engineered for high gain neo-classical shred, the pickup complement includes Dimarzio DP217 pickups in the neck and middle positions and a DP117 at the bridge. These pickups offer hum-free performance with a broad low end that's warm and tight, and a smooth, glassy treble response. These qualities combine perfectly with a heavily distorted amp, staying tight and defined, and as Dimarzio puts it, these pickups are the, "weapon of choice for Strat-powered classical metal." This Strat weighs 7lbs 4oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation. The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with well-rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, gaining a hair more heft and roundness in the upper registers, measuring .775” deep at the 1st fret and .890” at the 12th. On the scalloped fretboard, the jumbo fretwire is practically perfect, with just a hint of wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-5. This Strat plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The brass nut measures 1 9/16” in width, ensuring ideal note clarity, attack, and sustain. The large '68-spec headstock sports Yngwie’s signature and a block Stratocaster logo, and the original set of Schaller-made F-stamped tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The “Crafted in Japan” text and O-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt, F-embossed neck plate; this Yngwie Signature features the “Anchor Mounted” neck for improved stability, with threaded inserts for the mounting screws embedded in the neck heel. All of the electronics function as intended; the pickups are wired to the stock harness with untouched solder joints, full-size Japanese pots, and standard Strat controls. All three pickups retain the factory model stickers on their baseplates. The chrome-plated jack cup and bridge base have plenty of shine, with a light dusting of surface patina on the “Fender”-embossed saddles. Plastics comprise the lightly aged knobs and three-ply white pickguard. The Yellow White gloss finish has a rich cream hue, with some very light, isolated darkening of the finish along the lower bout perimeter. Cosmetic wear is limited to a handful of minor nicks on the body as a whole, largely relegated to the lower bout on top and along the body perimeter. The smooth ambered gloss on the neck profile highlights subtle birdseye figuring in the maple, with one shallow mark on the treble-side shoulder at the 1st fret that has no impact on playability. The original tweed hardshell case is included.
