Up for sale, a 2000 Fender Telecaster Thinline '72 vintage reissue model TN72 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. A Fender Japan example under the "Crafted in Japan" banner, this Tele is a rarity outside of Japan as it was only produced to be sold within its country of origin. The guitar boasts a Wide Range humbucker design, more tonally faithful to the original than many other Fender reissues, and these pickups are fat and full-sounding while still having a distinctive top end character. The ash body provides a certain midrange punch, and the semi-hollow construction adds an inherent warmth and sweetness to the sound. Lightweight at only 7lbs 6oz, we've had this Tele professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has a medium C shaped profile carve with round shoulders and faintly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .850" deep at the 1st fret and .925" at the 12th. The maple fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4" radius, and the slender frets show moderate wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-8, with fainter wear on the crowns extending until the octave. The guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The bone nut measures just a hair under 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock retains the original Kluson-style tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The "Crafted in Japan" text and P-prefix serial are present above the three-bolt neck plate.
All of the electronics work as intended, and the chrome-plated hardware and plastic parts are quite clean, with great dimension in the white pearl pickguard and light patina on the saddles. The Natural gloss finish shows sparingly little ambering, and cosmetic wear is limited to a few dings on the back lower bout body edge and a few nicks and faint finish scratches on the back. The neck profile has a smooth gloss finish, with just a couple dings on the treble-side shoulder at the 8th fret.
A gigbag is included.
