Up for sale, a 2000 Fender Precision Bass ‘57 vintage reissue model PB57-70US in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This rare, upscale “Crafted in Japan” iteration of the ‘57 P Bass platform was produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market and features a USA-Made PB-Vintage split-coil pickup, spiral bridge saddles, and full-size vintage-spec tuner baseplates.A resonant and lively example with an alder body and one-piece maple neck, this Fender Japan '57 Precision model has the same cosmetic appointments as its USA-made forebearers, delivering the warmth, articulation, and fundamental thump that defines the Precision tone. This bass weighs 9lbs 3oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, comfortable action and accurate intonation. The one-piece maple neck has a modestly chunky C-shaped profile carve with well-rounded shoulders and faintly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .850” deep at the 1st fret and .980” at the 12th. The fretboard has a 7 1/4” vintage-spec radius and retains the flawless stock slender fretwire. This bass plays cleanly up the 34” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The stock nut measures 42.5mm in width (just shy of 1 11/16”). On the headstock, the vintage-style tuners turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, with full-size baseplates and clover buttons. The back of the headstock even has a third strap button, keeping this instrument period correct right down to the smallest detail.  The “Crafted in Japan” text and O-prefix serial number are present above the four-bolt neck plate. On the body, all the electronics work as they should, with the split-coil pickup wired to the stock harness with full-size Japanese pots, governed by Master Volume and Tone controls. Hardware includes the bridge with vintage-style spiral saddles and flat-top knurled knobs, all of which have notably clean chrome plating. The one-ply white pickguard rounds out the plastics. This is a well-kept example, with cosmetic wear on the gloss Candy Apple Red finish limited to a scant few minuscule dings and faint scratches on the body as a whole. The ambered gloss finish on the neck profile is pristine.
