Up for sale, a 2000 Fender Jazz Bass '62 vintage reissue in 100% original condition, finished in custom color Candy Apple Red. This 1962 reissue Jazz Bass (officially model JB62-58) was made only for the Japanese domestic market, thus rarely seen outside its country of origin. The fit and finish of the "Crafted in Japan" instruments rivals Fender's American Vintage line, and both acoustically and plugged in, this Jazz Bass is an impressive instrument with a smooth, resonant natural acoustic response. Weighing 9lbs 3oz, the bass has plenty of midrange presence and articulate growl, and rolling back the tone control yields ample thump. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and strung with roundwound 45-105 strings, this Jazz Bass plays well with comfortable action and spot-on intonation.

The one-piece maple neck has a slender C profile carve with full shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, gaining more heft as you travel up the neck, measuring .820" deep at the 1st fret and .950" at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard is a very dark, tight-grained slab with a vintage 7 1/4" radius and original slender fretwire which exhibits notable grooves beneath the E and A strings in particular on frets 1-7, with fainter wear on the crowns extending to fret 9. The bass plays well up the straight neck with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod, conforming to traditional Fender spec with a full 34" scale length and 1 1/2" wide nut. On the headstock, the original clover button chrome tuning machines are intact, and the lightly ambered peghead sports the correct '62-style Fender Jazz Bass decal. The "Crafted in Japan" text and O-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate.

All of the electronics work as they should, the chrome hardware is notably clean, and plastics include the original trio of knobs and white three-ply pickguard. The pickguard is lightly aged with a faint ghosting of a circle around the placement of an original factory advert, and pick scuffing across the guard. The Candy Apple Red gloss finish shows some finish chips along the back treble-side body edge, with some additional dings and nicks along the lower bout in particular and to a lesser extent on the back.

A padded gigbag is included.
