Up for sale, a 2000 Fender Jazz Bass ‘62 vintage reissue model JB62-75US in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a tweed hardshell case. This upper-tiered “Crafted in Japan” Jazz Bass was produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market and is uncommon outside its country of origin, featuring factory-installed USA-made pickups and vintage-spec touches including full-size tuner baseplates and spiral bridge saddles.
Tonewoods include an alder body and a maple neck capped by a slab rosewood fretboard, and at 9lbs 9oz, this bass delivers plenty of natural sustain and sonic authority, faithfully captured by the USA-made single coil pickups. These pickups offer sweet midrange and articulate growl, with a clear treble response and plenty of broad thump when the Tone knob is rolled back to taste. This Jazz Bass has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has a medium U-shaped profile carve at the nut with round shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, offering a gentle increase in additional heft in the upper registers, measuring .835” deep at the 1st fret and .985” at the 12th. The slab rosewood fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4“ radius, and the slender fretwire is practically perfect. This bass plays cleanly up the 34” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the bone nut measures 1 1/2“ in width. On the headstock, the clover-button tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, with full-size baseplates and a light dusting of surface patina. The headstock sports the correct ‘62-style “Fender Jazz Bass” decal, and the back of the headstock has a third strap button, keeping things period-accurate down to the smaller details. The “Crafted in Japan” text and O-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate.
All of the electronics function as intended; the pickups are wired to the stock harness with a standard Volume/Volume/Tone control configuration. Hardware includes the chrome-plated control plate and bridge with spiral (theaded) vintage-spec saddles. Plastics comprise the trio of knobs and the four-ply red tortoise pickguard.
The gloss three-tone Sunburst finish exhibits a few minor dings along the lower bout perimeter and a few faint scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth ambered gloss on the neck profile is immaculate.
An upgrade aftermarket tweed hardshell case is included. Two of the three latches are functional.
