Up for sale, a 2000 Fender American Vintage '62 Jazzmaster Yamano limited edition model in 100% original condition, complete with the original G&G hardshell case and hangtags. An extremely rare example of the American Vintage series Jazzmaster offered exclusively via Fender's distribution deal with Yamano in Japan, this guitar features a custom color Burgundy Mist gloss nitro lacquer finish and matching headstock. The production totals for the American Vintage Jazzmaster models were notably small in the first years of production (Jazzmasters were first added to the line in 1999), and this instrument captures the feel and tonal properties of a Pre-CBS example with a tonewood complement comprising an alder body, maple neck, and thick slab rosewood fretboard, yielding an extremely resonant, detailed, and broad natural acoustic tone. The American Vintage '62 pickups are constructed with black fiber bobbins and beveled alnico magnets, wound with a bit more midrange push than vintage Jazzmaster pickups, lending these coils a certain presence and a touch more fullness than many other Jazzmaster winds. The bridge pickup has ample sparkle, twang, and percussive cut, while also offering more inherent warmth than any other Fender single coil. Complimenting the bridge position single coil, the neck pickup is rich and nuanced, with more low end oomph on tap via the Rhythm Circuit, ideal for articulating darker chord voicings or thickening up your favorite fuzz pedal. The guitar weighs 8lbs 9oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar (where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments) with fresh 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation. The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with moderate shoulder and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .820" deep at the 1st fret and .890" at the 12th. The guitar conforms to traditional Fender spec with a 7 1/4" fretboard radius, 1.650" nut width, and full 25 1/2" scale length. The slab rosewood fretboard retains the stock slender fretwire which has been leveled and crowned, currently showing no wear. The guitar plays well in every register up the straight neck with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The Burgundy Mist-finished headstock boasts a Pre-CBS style "spaghetti" Jazzmaster logo, with Kluson-style tuning machines that turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The neck heel is pencil dated May 26th, 2000, and the heel and pocket have numerous factory stamps dating the instrument to 2000.Electronically, everything works as it should, with the pickups wired to a three-way pickup selector, Volume and Tone knobs, and the "Rhythm Circuit" with on/off selector and Volume and Tone rollers. The vibrato has a smooth and responsive feel, the vibrato arm sits nice and tight in the collet, and the chrome plating on the hardware is bright and clean. Even the original bridge cover is intact. Plastics include a pale mint green pickguard with some requisite pick scuffing on the treble side, with parchment pickup covers and knobs. The gloss Burgundy Mist nitro lacquer finish exhibits some light strap rub through the gloss above the rear strap button, and a similar sliver of wear on the edge of the belly carve on the back. There is finish checking at the edges of the neck pocket, some scattered small dings on the back and body perimeter, and a few minor marks on the lower bout on top as well. The neck profile retains its smooth ambered nitro gloss, free of palm wear. The original brown tolex G&G hardshell case with gold plush interior is included, and the case is near mint with functional latches and the original handle. A number of original hangtags are also included.***We are dealers for the Mastery M1 Bridge, OMV-P Offset Vibrato, and Lollar Jazzmaster pickups, any or all of which can be installed prior to shipment for an additional charge***
