Up for sale, a 2000 Epiphone Les Paul Standard in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Crafted in Japan at the legendary Fujigen factory, this Japan-exclusive Epiphone was a result of a longstanding partnership between Gibson USA and their Japanese distributor, Yamano-Gakki.This uncommon Epiphone iteration of the classic Les Paul Standard platform features a solid maple top with Foto Flame veneer, mahogany body, and mahogany neck with a long tenon joint, capped with a bound rosewood fretboard. At 10lbs 2oz, this guitar has plenty of natural resonance and acoustic authority faithfully translated by the stock humbuckers. Tonally, the low wind PAF-style humbuckers provide plenty of detail and clarity, with the sweet, singing sustain of the Les Paul design. This Les Paul has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with fresh 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation. The mahogany neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with moderate shoulder at the nut and a hair more heft further up the fretboard, measuring .810” deep at the 1st fret and .950” deep at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard is a particularly dark cut of this tonewood with a 12" radius, pearloid trapezoid inlay, and stock medium jumbo fretwire. The frets retain their full factory height with well-rounded crowns, showing only light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-4. This guitar plays cleanly in all registers with a straight neck and responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. In-line with traditional Gibson spec, the scale length is 24 3/4” and the nut measures 1 11/16” in width. The headstock sports the iconic “open book” shape, only offered on Japanese-made Epiphone instruments, and the original Gibson-branded truss rod cover. The Kluson-style tuners turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The back of the headstock retains the inked serial number and “Made in Japan” text. The electronics function as intended, with original humbuckers and a fully upgraded wiring harness with USA-made 500k CTS pots. The neck pickup cavity reveals the long tenon joint, ensuring optimal resonance. Hardware includes the original nickel-plated ABR-1 bridge and stoptail which show just a dusting of surface patina, and plastics include cream pickup rings and a quartet of gold bonnet knobs. The gloss Cherry Sunburst finish highlights the Foto Flame veneer on the maple cap, and the finish is a bit more diffused and vintage-correct than many Cherry Sunbursts. This is a particularly well-kept example, with cosmetic wear limited to a microscopic chip on the bass-side lower bout edge at the binding, and a handful of light finish scratches on the body as a whole. The gloss finish on the neck profile is immaculate. The original premium black tolex hardshell case is included.
