2000 Epiphone by Gibson Les Paul Special Electric Guitar, TV Yellow, Japan Exclusive

+ shipping

Up for sale, a 2000 Epiphone Les Paul Special in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Crafted exclusively for the Japanese market alongside the top shelf Elitist line, this Les Paul Special features Gibson's unmistakable open book headstock shape (a Japan market only Epiphone feature), a solid mahogany body and neck, and a gloss TV Yellow finish. The stock P-90 pickups work in concert with the mahogany construction to deliver a distinctive growl and midrange heft, offering dynamic, glassy clean tones and rich overdriven roar. The guitar is featherweight at 7lbs 2oz, with a defined, chiming natural acoustic voice that translates well through the pickups. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Les Paul Special has been dialed in with 9-42 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The mahogany neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve at the nut with notable heft and shoulder as you travel up the fretboard. This neck shape is more in-line with a ‘50s carve, yet not as aggressively chunky as some “baseball bat” necks, measuring .850” deep at the 1st fret and .990” at the 12th. On the bound rosewood fretboard, the original medium jumbo frets are flawless, playing easily in every register with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The scale length is 24 3/4", and the bone nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width. The face of the open book headstock retains the original Epiphone gold silkscreen text, Gibson truss rod cover, and set of metal button Kluson-style tuners that turn smoothly.

All of the electronics work as they should, with the pair of original P-90 pickups wired to stock pots. The guitar features a traditional Les Paul control array with individual Volume and Tone controls for each pickup and original black bell knobs. The ABR-1 bridge and stopbar tailpiece show just a light speckling of surface patina on the nickel plating. The protective clear factory film is still intact over the pickguard and rear control cavity and switch covers, a testament to the sparingly little use this guitar has seen since new. The gloss TV Yellow gloss shows just a few light finish scratches and tiny nicks on the body as a whole, and the gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.

A brown faux leather gigbag is included.
