Up for sale, a 2000 Dave Bunker MVP model in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. Famous for his doubleneck "Touch Guitars" of the 1960s and the two hand tapping method by which they were played; the late, great Dave Bunker was a pioneer in the world of electric guitar luthiery. With body dimensions and top carve reminiscent of a Paul Reed Smith, this rare guitar features a gloss Cherry Sunburst finish on a quilted maple top, Sustanium Tension Free neck, and a pair of Seymour Duncan humbuckers.

Over a number of decades, Dave Bunker developed an enviable reputation for crafting top-tier boutique instruments featuring hand-selected premium tonewoods and Bunker’s proprietary, innovative designs, including the Sustanium Tension Free Neck. The Sustanium neck is decidedly unique, with a long tenon bolt-on design, transferring the string tension to the body as opposed to the neck to prevent unwanted bowing, optimizing action while also increasing sustain and resonance. The tonewood complement comprises a mahogany body, carved quilted maple top, and a maple neck capped with an ebony fingerboard, weighing 9lbs 11oz.

The pickup pair comprises a Seymour Duncan APH-1 Alnico II Pro humbucker at the neck and a TB-5 Custom Trembucker at the bridge: the Alnico II Pro delivers smooth, soft trebles with tons of natural warmth and buttery lows, resulting in a notably dynamic pickup that is very sensitive to user inputs. The TB-5 Custom Trembucker at the bridge yields aggressive midrange, treble attack, and exceptional sustain, perfect for screaming solos, with great harmonic density. Additionally, the independent push/pull coil taps further broaden the available tonal palette with single coil sparkle and snap. This MVP has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, slinky action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Cherry Sunburst finish highlights the deep, three-dimensional figuring in the quilted maple top, and cosmetic wear is limited to a few nicks along the lower bout perimeter and a handful of tiny dings and faint finish scratches on the body as a whole. The neck profile retains its smooth matching gloss, with two small finish chips on the edges of the headstock face.

A hardshell case is included; the case and guitar smell slightly of smoke.
