Up for sale, a 1999 Teisco May Queen vintage reissue electric guitar in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Originally introduced by Teisco in the 60s, the May Queen shared a similar shaped artist palette body design to its Italian contemporary, the Eko Auriga. This Japanese market exclusive was reissued in 1999 and only available for a single year, featuring semi-hollow mahogany construction and a cats eye F hole. The May Queen has a barking acoustic tone, with an authoritative cut and sparkle in the bridge position and fatter, rounded sound from the neck single coil. These pickups also have a percussive, jangly character in-line with their Rickenbacker inspiration, and the May Queen could easily sub in for your favorite 330/360. Weighing only 7lbs 7oz, this May Queen has been professionally setup here at Mike and Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, spot on intonation, and low action.
The neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve at the nut with good shoulder in every register, lightly rolled fretboard edges, and more overall heft as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .805” deep at the 1st fret and .905” at the 12th. The dark rosewood fretboard features perfect slender fretwire, and the guitar plays cleanly in every register up the 24 3/4" scale. The fretboard measures 42mm (1.650") wide at the zero fret just forward of the nut. The headstock features Teisco's classic disc logo, and the sealed chrome tuners have a smoother and more reliable response than their appearance might infer, offering significantly better stability than Teisco’s tuners from the ‘60s with this same look.
On the body, all of the electronics work as they should, with a three-way pickup selector toggle and Master Volume and Master Tone controls topped with reflector cap knobs. The roller saddles on the bridge work in concert with the spring loaded vibrato tailpiece for responsive subtle warbles and deeper dives. Cosmetic wear is limited to light pick scuffing across the guard and a few minor marks on the body as a whole. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.
The original Teisco-branded gigbag is included.
