Up for sale, a 1999 Paul Reed Smith Custom 22 left-handed “10 Top” in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. This PRS features a bookmatched flame maple 10 Top finished in Vintage Sunburst, a mahogany body, and a mahogany neck with a Wide-Fat profile capped with an East Indian rosewood fretboard. This guitar delivers plenty of natural sustain, woody warmth, and singing treble chime, qualities faithfully captured by the stock pair of Dragon II Treble and Bass humbuckers. Designed with Alnico IV magnets, the Dragon II pickups were engineered to cover a broad tonal spectrum, and as qualified by PRS, the Dragon IIs occupy a happy middle ground between the distinctly vintage-flavored McCarty and the ultra-modern HFS humbuckers. These pickups are coupled to a five-way rotary pickup selector, offering both single coil and humbucker options. This PRS weighs 8lbs 2oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation. The mahogany neck has PRS’ Wide-Fat profile, a full-feeling C-shaped carve with well-rounded shoulders and rolled fretboard edges, measuring .875” deep at the 1st fret and .965” at the 12th. The East Indian rosewood fretboard has a 10” radius with abalone “birds in flight” inlay, and the medium jumbo fretwire is practically perfect, with well-rounded crowns and plenty of meat. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the nut measures a full 1 11/16” in width. On the headstock, the PRS-stamped locking tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, with clean chrome plating, and the handwritten serial is present on the back of the headstock, along with the “10” denoting the 10 Top premium flame maple cap.All of the electronics work as intended, with the five-way rotary pickup selector switch wired as follows:Position 1: Humbucking treble (bridge) pickupPosition 2: Outside coils of both pickups in parallelPosition 3: Series single coilsPosition 4: Parallel single coilsPosition 5: Humbucking bass (neck) pickupMaster Volume and Tone knobs round out the electronics, and the original nickel-plated hardware is all quite clean, including the compensated wraparound tailpiece and pickup covers.Cosmetic wear on the gloss Vintage Burst finish is limited to one small ding adjacent to the input jack plate, and a few faint scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth gloss on the neck profile is pristine. The original hardshell case is included.
