Up for sale, a 1999 Martin Standard Series 000-28 in near-mint condition, complete with the original molded hardshell case and hangtags. One of Martin’s most enduringly popular body sizes, the Auditorium shape offers an ideal blend of warmth, nuance, and definition. This particular 000-28 benefits from a professional neck reset and a new carved and compensated bone saddle.
Tonewoods include an X-braced Sitka spruce top, East Indian rosewood back and sides, a mahogany neck with Martin's Modified Low Oval profile carve, and an ebony fingerboard and bridge. The bass register is taut and clear, while the plain strings have a round, singing quality with plenty of high treble sparkle. The midrange character is smooth and balanced, and the Sitka top has had a quarter century to open up and deliver a broad, relaxed sound. Weighing 4lbs 8oz, this 000-28 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-53 bronze strings and easy-playing action.
