Up for sale, a 1999 Jackson Stars Soloist model SL-1 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. A rare Japanese domestic market model, the Jackson Stars instruments are the direct descendants of the Grover Jackson line, expertly crafted at the Chu Shin factory. Featuring maple neck-through construction with poplar body wings and a 24-fret bound rosewood fretboard with jumbo fretwire, this Jackson has an immediate, clear sonic quality that provides the perfect platform for the stock Seymour Duncan SSH pickup configuration. The stock USA-made Seymour Duncan pickup complement includes a TB-5 Trembucker in the bridge position, and a pair of Classic Stack hum-cancelling single coils. The Trembucker provides an unmistakable upper midrange attack, with a tight, articulate low end, and harmonically rich highs that really sing, while the Classic Stack single-coil pickups offer all of the sparkle and chime of pure Strat tone without the hum. This Soloist weighs 7lbs 5oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action and spot-on intonation. The maple neck has a slender D-shaped profile carve with full shoulders, measuring .745” deep at the 1st fret and .850” at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard has a 12-16” compound radius, sharkfin inlay, and flawless jumbo fretwire. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the contoured “heel-less" design offers easy access to the highest registers of the fretboard. The locking nut measures 1 5/8” in width. The headstock sports the Jackson Stars logo, and the black “Grover Jackson”-branded (Gotoh-made) tuners turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. All of the electronics work as intended, with the SSH pickup complement wired to the stock harness and governed by a five-way selector switch and Master Volume and Tone controls. The Schaller-made Floyd Rose Licensed vibrato is designed for deep divebombs and broad, expressive wails with ideal tuning stability, complete with matching black arm. The black dome-top knurled knobs round out the hardware. Cosmetic wear on the gloss Metallic Black finish is limited to a handful of small dings on the bass-side lower bout on top, some targeted scuffing along the treble side of the pick path, and a handful of faint finish scratches on the body as a whole. The gloss finish on the neck profile is clean and smooth.A gigbag is included.
