Up for sale, a 1999 Gretsch G6119 Tennessee Rose in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. A model produced prior to Fender's buyout of Gretsch (and prior to Atkins’ renewal of his Gretsch endorsement in 2007), the Tennessee Rose replicates the specifications of a circa 1962 Tennessean, yet with Filter'Tron humbuckers and a modern Tune-o-Matic bridge design. Built at the Terada factory in Japan, features include a fully hollow maple body with sound post bracing, real F holes (not painted), and a Bigsby B6G vibrato.
As Gretsch's most enduringly popular pickup, these Filter'Trons deliver plenty of bounce and chewy cut on the wound strings, with a complex, textured sparkle in the treble register, and a bit of midrange push and bark. This G6119 weighs 8lbs 13oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Maple, two-piece
-Shape: Medium C (verging on soft V), measuring .845” 1st fret, .940” 9th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood, “neo-classical” thumbnail inlays
-Frets: Slender, faint wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-2
-Scale Length: 24.6”
-Nut: 1 11/16”, bone
-Tuners: Rotomatic-style, Gretsch-branded
Body Specs:
-Wood: Maple
-Bracing: Sound post
-Pickups: Filter’Tron x2
-Controls: Master Volume, Three-way pickup selector, Volume x2, Tone
-Hardware: Bigsby B6G vibrato, roller bridge, knurled “G” pointer knobs
-Plastics: Plexi pickguard with “Tennessee Rose” text, pickup surrounds
-Serialization: 99-prefix on label (bass-side F hole)
The gloss Deep Cherry Stain finish is extremely clean, with a bit of light buckle wear central to the back and a few minor finish scratches on the body as a whole. The neck profile retains its smooth matching gloss.
The original gray tolex hardshell case is included.
