Up for sale, a 1999 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe Limited Edition model in 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a Gibson USA hardshell case and hangtags. Ordered by Gibson's Japanese distributor Yamano, Gibson's USA-made guitars distributed via Yamano are often considered among their best, featuring the highest quality woods picked for Gibson's discerning Japanese audience.
The traditional tonewood complement includes a carved two-piece flame maple top and mahogany body paired with a one-piece mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard, offering a lively, rich natural acoustic tone that sustains well and translates faithfully through the original mini humbucker pair. The pickups feature Alnico II magnets, with narrower coils and slightly fewer turns of wire than a full-sized PAF for a more sparkling, focused sound. There's a delightful cutting clarity to these mini hums, without sacrificing the warmth and muscle one expects with a Les Paul. The guitar weighs 8lbs 15oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, slinky action, and spot-on intonation.
The mahogany neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with moderate shoulder, measuring .830" deep at the 1st fret and .980" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard retains the original medium fretwire which has its full factory height and well-rounded crowns, showing only light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-7. The guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 11/16" in width, and on the headstock, the Gibson Deluxe double line tuners feature greened keystone buttons and function as intended. The "Limited Edition" badge is also present on the back of the headstock.
All of the electronics function flawlessly, with untouched solder joints on the Gibson-embossed Alpha pots and patent number mini humbucker baseplates. The chrome-plated hardware is positively gleaming with just a touch of surface patina, and plastics include the single-ply pickguard and quartet of gold speed knobs.
The finish skews much more Cherry than Wine Red (officially Wine Red according to the serialized hangtag), and its lighter coloration highlights the straight flame figuring that extends evenly across the top. Cosmetic wear includes some finish scratches across the top, largely pick-related and loosely across the strum path. There are a few small finish chips at the bass-side waist on the rim, and a few additional minor marks and finish scuffs on the body as a whole. The gloss on the neck profile is nigh flawless.
The original brown tolex Gibson USA hardshell case is included, along with the original serialized hangtag and Gibson/Yamano manual.
