Up for sale, a 1999 Gibson Les Paul Classic in 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Designed with the 1960 Les Paul Standard as its genesis, the Classic boasts many features that are notable to that era of Les Paul production, such as a '50s headstock shape, deep dish top carve, push-in tuner bushings, ABR-1 bridge, and a slimmer 1960 neck profile. Notably light for a Les Paul at 9lbs 1oz, with a solid (not weight-relieved) mahogany body, this guitar has plenty of power and cut, with ample sustain which translates well through the original 496R and 500T ceramic magnet humbuckers. The pickups capture the acoustic qualities of the body, and the guitar has a sizzling aggressive sound in the bridge position and rich roar at the neck. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, this guitar plays exactly as a good Les Paul should with low action and solid intonation. The one-piece mahogany neck has a 1960 correct slim C-shaped profile carve with moderate shoulder and a fast feel, measuring .800" deep at the 1st fret and .915" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard has aged pearloid trapezoid inlays, and the original frets have their full factory height and well-rounded crowns, showing only very light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-7. The guitar plays cleanly in all registers, the neck is straight, and the truss rod is optimally adjusted. The headstock sports the Classic-embossed truss rod cover, pearl Gibson inlay, Les Paul Classic gold silkscreen, and a set of original Kluson-style Gibson Deluxe tuners with greened keystone buttons and push-in bushings. The serial number is inked with the larger font seen on the earliest Classic models. All of the electronics function as intended, with the original humbuckers which have Gibson USA-embossed baseplates. Solder joints are untouched, and the harness features Alpha pots and ceramic disc tone caps. The ABR-1 bridge and stopbar have clean nickel plating and light surface patina, and plastics include the amber bell knobs, pickguard with "1960" text, and cream pickup rings and switch surround. The Goldtop gloss nitro lacquer finish exhibits prominent, tight vertical checking on the treble side of the top. There is buckle rash central to the back and some additional finish scuffs and dings (also largely relegated to the back), with a tiny bit of stand rash on the lower bout and a spot of lighter finish where a strap rubbed the lacquer adjacent to the forward strap button. Wear on top is more restrained, with a bit of light pick scuffing across the guard and a few pinhead-sized marks on the lower bout. The neck profile retains its smooth nitro gloss, with just a couple small, shallow marks that have no impact on playability. The original Gibson USA hardshell case with brown exterior and pink plush interior is included.
