Up for sale, a 1999 Fender Telecaster Custom '72 vintage reissue in 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Manufactured in Japan and intended only for the domestic market, this Telecaster Custom is a faithful and very well-crafted reissue, embodying everything that makes the Telecaster Custom model so versatile and fun to play. With a Wide Range humbucker in the neck position and a traditional Tele single coil at the bridge, this Tele has a very broad tonal spectrum, from thick, meaty humbucker tones in the neck position to chiming, twangy single coil tones at the bridge. Of course the middle position is truly a "best of both worlds" setting, and the two pickups balance well both in terms of output and their respective tonal attributes. Weighing 7lbs 13oz, this guitar has a pleasing, crisp acoustic tone with solid sustain that translates well through the pickups. We've had this Tele professionally setup here at our shop, Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, and it's currently strung with 10-46 strings and slinky action. The one-piece maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with full shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .840" deep at the 1st fret and .925" at the 12th. The gloss-finished maple fretboard boasts original slender vintage-style fretwire. There is moderate wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-7, with wear extending more faintly until the octave. The scale length measures 25 1/2", while the fretboard radius also matches vintage spec at 7 1/4". The nut width is 1.675" (just shy of 1 11/16"). On the headstock, the Gotoh-branded tuners turn very smoothly and hold pitch as they should. The "Crafted in Japan" text and P-prefix serial number are present above the three-bolt F neck plate. All of the electronics work as intended, with each pickup wired to independent Volume and Tone knobs, in addition to a three-way toggle pickup selector switch. Plastics include the original quartet of witch hat knobs and stock three-ply pickguard, which shows some requisite pick scuffing. The Black gloss finish on the body shows a few finish chips on the body edges and some light finish scratches and shallow dings across the back. The neck has a smooth gloss finish with light flame figuring in the maple extending along the bass-side of the profile.A gigbag is included.
