Up for sale, a 1999 Fender Telecaster ‘67 vintage reissue “Sonny” model TL67-80SPL in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. The only iteration ever offered by Fender of Keith Richard’s #2 Tele “Sonny,” this uncommon and long ago discontinued “Crafted in Japan” Telecaster was produced in limited numbers exclusively for the Japanese domestic market. While Keef’s “Micawber” Telecaster often gets the majority of the limelight, his “Sonny” Tele is an equally vital part of the Stones’ sound; this TL67-80SPL features a six-saddle brass bridge, traditional Tele (TL-Vintage) flat-pole bridge pickup, and full-size neck position Dragster humbucker with mounting ring.
Just like Richard’s own Tele, this TL67-80SPL features a maple neck with maple cap fretboard, paired with a white ash body. This guitar can easily deliver Keef’s cutting, powerful tones; offering smooth sustain and a dynamic, nuanced response with ample midrange heft, snappy, sparkling highs, and plenty of Tele twang with the bridge pickup favored. Weighing 8lbs 11oz, this TL67-80SPL has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
