Up for sale, a 1999 Fender Jazzmaster '62 reissue model JM66-80 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This "Crafted in Japan" Jazzmaster was designed for the Japanese domestic market, rarely seen outside its country of origin and boasting a custom color Olympic White gloss finish.Tonewoods include an alder body, maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard, and at 7lbs 11oz, this Jazzmaster is a medium weight example with a smooth, clear acoustic voice. The instrument has plenty of sparkle and cut on tap, with a range of defined and powerful tones from the two single coil pickups, and warm, wooly sounds when switched to the Rhythm Circuit on the guitar's lower body horn. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, this Jazzmaster is dialed in for low action and accurate intonation with 10-46 roundwound strings. The maple neck has a medium depth C-shaped profile carve with round shoulders and rolled fretboard edges, measuring .840” deep at the 1st fret and .915” at the 12th. The thick rosewood fretboard has a 7 1/4" radius with dot inlay and original slender vintage-style frets that retain their full factory height, showing moderate wear beneath the G and B strings on frets 1-3, with lighter wear extending to fret 9. The guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 42mm in width (1.650"). The headstock sports a Pre-CBS style "Spaghetti" Jazzmaster logo, with Kluson-style tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The "Crafted in Japan" script text and O-prefix serial number are present above the four-bolt neck plate. All of the electronics work as they should, and the chrome-plated hardware has plenty of shine. The vibrato unit engages smoothly for quick warbles and surfy dives, working in concert with the original bridge with spiral saddles. Plastics include a "tomato soup" tortoise pickguard and pickup covers and knobs that show just a touch of yellowing. The Olympic White custom color finish exhibits very slight uniform darkening and a touch of mottling in the finish on the body edges, and light finish checking along the belly carve on the back. There are some dings concentrated on the lower bout body edge, and a few additional finish scratches and minor marks on the body as a whole. The neck profile retains its smooth ambered gloss finish.A padded gigbag is included.***We are dealers for the Mastery M2 bridge, OMV-P Offset Vibrato, and Lollar pickups, any or all of which can be installed prior to shipment for an additional charge***
