Up for sale, a 1999 Fender Jaguar '62 vintage reissue in perfect working order, 100% original save for an upgraded Mustang bridge. A faithful reissue of the Jaguar's original specs from the model's 1962 introductory year, this guitar was manufactured in Japan exclusively for the Japanese domestic market and is rarely seen outside its country of origin. Tonally, this Jag does everything a good Fender should, with plenty of twang and snap in the top end, and the slightly aggressive chime and sinewy snarl that sets this model apart. The stock pickups have balanced, sweet output and great clarity for strummed passages and sparkling lead lines. Engage the Rhythm Circuit for even darker, meatier tones (great for use with fuzz pedals) or click on the "strangle" switch in the Lead Circuit for even thinner tic-tac sounds. Top it off with more chrome than a Cadillac and you have the model that was Fender's flagship guitar when it was introduced in '62, with every bell and whistle Leo Fender and his team could think to include. This guitar weighs 8lbs 8oz, with a warm, clear acoustic tone that translates well through the pickups. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, this Jag plays very well with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation. The one-piece maple neck has a medium C profile carve with more shoulder as you travel up the fretboard and faintly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .835" deep at the 1st fret and .955" at the 12th. The thick rosewood fretboard features pearl dot inlays and stock vintage-spec slender fretwire on the 24" scale. The frets have their full factory height, showing decent grooves beneath the plain strings on frets 1-5, with fretwear gradually growing lighter until the octave. The truss rod is responsive and ideally adjusted, and the guitar plays cleanly up the 7 1/4" radius fretboard. The nut has a 42mm nut width, measuring just shy of 1 11/16", and the headstock retains the original Gotoh, Kluson-style tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should. The "Crafted in Japan" text and P-prefix serial are present just above the four-bolt neck plate. All of the electronics are in good working order, with individual on/off switches for each pickup on the Lead Circuit, in addition to the bass cut (or "strangle switch") on/off toggle and Master Volume and Tone knobs. The Rhythm Circuit has its own pair of Volume and Tone wheels in addition to the on/off toggle switch that engages this circuit, which adds a darker tone cap exclusively for use on the neck pickup. The vibrato unit is taut and responsive, actuating smoothly for surfy warbles and dives, working in concert with the upgraded Mustang bridge. The chrome-plated hardware shows a dusting of patina and some scuffing on the control plates, with uniform aging of the pickup covers. The Sunburst gloss is rich and bold, accented by a glossy deep red tortoise pickguard, showing concentrated wear along the lower bout body edge, some scattered dings across the back, and a small spot of light buckle rash just south of the belly contour. There are a few nicks on top adjacent to the vibrato tailpiece, while wear on the smooth gloss neck profile finish is limited to just a few microscopic shallow marks and a couple tiny finish chips on the bass side fretboard edge.A black form-fit faux leather gigbag is included.***We are dealers for the Mastery M2 bridge and Offset Vibrato, Lollar Jaguar pickups, and G&G Fender hardshell cases, any of which can be installed/included prior to shipment for an additional charge***
