Up for sale, a 1999 Fender American Vintage ‘52 Telecaster in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with an SKB molded hardshell case. One of the most popular (and now discontinued) USA-made Fender reissues, the American Vintage '52 Telecaster has a transparent Butterscotch nitro lacquer finish over an ash body, paired with a one-piece maple neck.Lightweight at 7lbs 2oz, this Telecaster has a lively natural quality, delivering a round, dynamic acoustic tone with great projection and body, indicative of a guitar that’s been played enough to have a resonance not always afforded a new instrument. The pair of original black bobbin single coil pickups yield an array of traditional Fender tonalities. The neck pickup is throaty and full, with a percussive cut, and the bridge has a chewy twang. This American Vintage ‘52 Tele has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation. The maple neck has a modestly chunky U-shaped profile carve with full, inviting shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .860" deep at the 1st fret and .930" at the 12th. The maple fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4" radius, professionally refretted and plek’d in 2017 by Mike Lull Guitar Works. The new medium jumbo fretwire is practically perfect, with just a hint of wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-3, playing cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1.650” in width. On the headstock, the "Fender Telecaster" waterslide decal is near-mint, and the original Kluson-style tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should. All of the factory stamps are present on the neck heel and in the pocket, with date stamps from 1999.All of the electronics work as they should, with Fender's Broadcaster-style flat pole bridge pickup and modern three-way pickup selector wiring (eliminating the "dark cap," and offering standard Bridge, Bridge+Neck, Neck functionality). The original CTS pots date to ‘99. The chrome control plate, domed knurled knobs, and neck plate are positively gleaming, and the serialized bridge base sports a trio of aged brass saddles. Further in line with vintage spec, this guitar used all flathead mounting screws. The Butterscotch finish has good transparency, highlighting the grain of the ash body, and there is some targeted touch-up on the back treble-side body edge adjacent to the input jack due to previously chipped finish in this area. Cosmetic wear otherwise includes very light buckle worming on the back at the upper bout/waist, and a handful of tiny dings and faint scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The neck profile retains its smooth ambered gloss, with a justa a scant few small marks along the profile length. An aftermarket SKB molded hardshell case is included, along with a signed work certificate from Mike Lull Guitar Works for the refret, which is dated to 2017.
