Up for sale, a 1999 Fender American Standard Stratocaster in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. An ash-bodied iteration of the American Standard platform, this Fender reflects the thoughtful reinvention of the Stratocaster for the modern era. With reverence for Fender's past and a host of modern, player-friendly features, this USA-made Strat features a 9 1/2" fretboard radius on the 22 fret fingerboard, medium jumbo fretwire, a two-point tremolo, and Schaller tuning machines, all tweaks on the classic Strat platform that ensure optimal playability and tone.

Tonewoods include an ash body and maple neck, pairing the natural midrange heft and complexity of ash with the inherent note detail and treble snap of maple. The American Standard alnico magnet single coils have plenty of bounce and sparkle; with a rounder, bell-like tone in the neck position and a punchy spank at the bridge. The in-between positions on the five-way pickup selector deliver plenty of hollow squawk and percussive cut. Weighing 7lbs 7oz, this Strat has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with fresh 10-46 strings, low action and accurate intonation.

The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with plenty of shoulder, showing some natural palm wear through the gloss on the treble-side fretboard edge. The profile measures .825” deep at the 1st fret and .895” at the 12th. The maple fretboard has a modern 9 1/2" radius, and the original medium jumbo frets retain their full factory height with plenty of meat, showing moderate wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-8, with lighter wear extending to the octave. The guitar plays cleanly in every register with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock retains the Fender-stamped, Schaller-made tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The N9-prefix serial dates to 1999.

All of the electronics function as intended, with the pickups governed by a traditional five-way pickup selector switch and Volume/Tone/Tone control array. The solder joints are untouched, and visible codes on the CTS pots date to the 3rd week of '99. The chrome plating on the hardware has plenty of shine, and the two-point vibrato has a smooth and responsive feel. All original plastics are intact and clean, with a bit of faint pick scuffing on the treble side of the pickguard.

The Natural gloss finish has lightly ambered, highlighting the broad grain of the ash body. There is a faint square sticker tan line on the bass-side lower bout on top, and cosmetic wear is limited to some minor dings and light finish scratches on the body as a whole. The semi-gloss finish on the neck profile is clean and smooth with just a couple minor marks.

The original Fender molded hardshell case is included.
