Crafted at the Peerless factory in Korea, this uncommon and discontinued iteration of the Casino stacks up well against the Elitist line.
Acoustically, the fully hollow all-maple body has an articulate and airy tone, capturing both the clear note attack of maple as a tonewood and the warmth of the hollow construction. The P-90 pickups are wound to vintage spec with plenty of midrange bark, delivering a glassy, percussive quality. Whether you seek dynamic cleans or thick overdrive, these pickups can produce either with ease and with a refinement beyond most other modern Casino reissues. The neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with full shoulders in every register, measuring .840" deep at the 1st fret and .915" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard is an extremely dark, tight-grained cut of this tonewood featuring pearloid parallelogram inlay and flawless medium jumbo frets. The guitar plays cleanly in every register up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The bone nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width, consistent with spec for pre-1965 Casino models, and a feature that's surprisingly uncommon on Casino iterations. The headstock retains the original Kluson-style tuners, turning smoothly and holding pitch well.
