Up for sale, a 1998 Yamaha Takanaka Signature model SG-2000MT in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and hangtags. This unique iteration of Yamaha’s perennially popular SG platform (commonly known as the “Les Paul Killer” for numerous, very good reasons) is the signature model of Japanese guitar legend and city pop pioneer Masayoshi Takanaka, finished in custom color Lagoon Blue.

Weighing 10lbs 7oz, this SG2000MT features neck-through construction with a three-piece mahogany/maple/mahogany neck (patented as the T-Cross System), a carved maple top, and mahogany body wings, taking Gibson's tried and true tonewood combination and utilizes it to great effect. The T-Cross System not only improves the stability of the neck, but also adds to the tonal complexity, with features of both woods evident in the sound. The pair of SGH-40B humbuckers complement the tonewood composition nicely, with a punchy and bold baseline that’s rounded out by plenty of top-end articulation and warm, focused lows. This SG-2000MT benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
