Up for sale, a 1998 Rickenbacker 360 in 100% original condition and in perfect working order, finished in a rich, saturated Fireglo and complete with the original hardshell case. The semi-hollow maple body and set-neck construction affords the 360 a certain sonic richness and immediacy, and it's no wonder that top players of the British Invasion and folk boom of the 1960s gravitated towards Rickenbacker for their top notch construction and tone. Equipped with stereo "Rick-o-Sound" functionality and boasting Rickenbacker's Hi-Gain single coils, the guitar has a sweet, sparkling sound. The tone has great warmth and nuance, and when you strum a chord with authority, the instrument has a clear, cutting quality, inherent in maple as a tonewood. The guitar balances well on a strap, weighing only 7lbs 9oz. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and strung with 10-46 strings, this Rickenbacker has low action and spot-on intonation. The neck has a round, inviting C-shaped profile with generous shoulder, filling the palm comfortably and fretting easily, measuring .880" at the 1st fret and .905" at the 12th. The gloss-finished bound rosewood fretboard boasts triangular pearl inlays, and the original slender frets are intact, showing moderate, uniform wear on the crowns of frets 1-3, mostly beneath the plain strings, with wear extending more faintly beneath the plains until fret 8. The guitar plays easily up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rods. The original nut is intact and measures 1 5/8". On the headstock, the stock Schaller tuning machines work as they should and hold pitch well, with near perfect chrome plating. The original "Rickenbacker" truss rod cover/logo is also present. All of the electronics function as intended, and everything is exactly how it was when the guitar left the Rickenbacker factory, with untouched solder joints and CTS pots that date to the 16th week of '97. The U-prefix serial number on the stereo Rick-o-Sound jack plate definitively dates the instrument to 1998. The chrome "R" tailpiece and six saddle bridge is intact, and the chrome plating is gleaming. The gloss Fireglo finish is very rich and bold with deep burgundy edges, and the top is extremely clean. The guitar exhibits buckle rash on the back bass side of the body, yet not through the finish, with some small finish chips along the back lower bout binding. The neck profile shows a few spots of light palm wear through the clear coat along the fretboard binding. The original hardshell case is included. The case shows some scuffing and taped-over wear on the edge of the lid, with all three functional original latches intact and a replacement handle.
