Up for sale, a 1998 Orville Les Paul Standard Goldtop LPS-75 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Made exclusively for the Japanese domestic market and rarely seen outside its country of origin, this Orville is an official Gibson-licensed guitar and a result of a partnership between Gibson USA and their Japanese distributor Yamano Gakki. Named after Gibson's founder, Orville Gibson, this discontinued Orville model was crafted at the Fujigen factory during the last year of the Orville line.

This guitar is a well-crafted recreation of a late '50s Les Paul Standard, featuring a solid mahogany body and neck, carved maple cap, long tenon neck joint, and a pair of original humbucker pickups. The PAF-style pickups meter just over 7k ohms, delivering a classic Les Paul tonal profile with great top-end articulation and some scooping of the midrange frequencies. The neck pickup is warm and full, while the bridge position humbucker has a bright, aggressive bite that loves a bit of gain, providing a mix-cutting, piercing quality while still maintaining some chunk. Weighing 9lbs 5oz, this Les Paul has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The mahogany neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with good shoulders in every register, measuring .840" deep at the 1st fret and .995" at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard features ambered binding, pearloid trapezoid inlays, and original medium jumbo frets. The frets retain their full factory height, showing moderate wear under the plain strings from frets 1-7, with lighter wear extending to the octave. This guitar plays easily in every register with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. Matching traditional Gibson spec, this Orville has a 24 3/4“ scale length and a 1 11/16” nut width. The headstock features Gibson's “open book” shape and Orville inlay, with original nickel Kluson-style tuners which turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch.

All of the electronics work as they should, with untouched solder joints and a traditional Les Paul control array with individual Volume and Tone controls for each pickup and a three-way pickup selector toggle. The hardware includes an ABR-1 bridge and corresponding stopbar, with a light dusting of surface patina on the nickel plating. Plastics include the original quartet of gold speed knobs, switch tip and cream pickup rings. Cosmetic wear includes buckle rash at the bass-side waist, some small dings largely relegated to the back, and a couple finish chips adjacent to the input jack. The maple cap is notably clean, with just a few minor marks in the Goldtop gloss behind the bridge. The gloss finish on the neck profile is clean and smooth.

A Squadron-branded padded gigbag is included, which is missing the zipper to its front pouch but is otherwise entirely functional.
