Up for sale, a 1998 Martin Custom 000-28 in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and owner’s manual. A custom-ordered iteration of one of Martin’s most popular body sizes, this 000 features an Engelmann spruce top with 5/16” scalloped X bracing, bookmatched genuine Brazilian rosewood back and sides, and ornate marquetry including abalone purfling, vertical “C.F. Martin” inlay on the headstock and Pre-War-style fingerboard inlay.
This 000-28 Custom delivers both sonic depth and clear treble chime, with excellent string-to-string balance (even among Martins). Offering healthy projection and an overall even-tempered feel, this Martin opens up when strummed hard with plenty of midrange oomph and a relaxed-yet-defined low end. Weighing 4lbs 6oz, this Custom 000-28 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-53 bronze strings and easy-playing action.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Mahogany
-Shape: Medium C, measuring .820” 1st fret, .880” 9th fret
