1998 Gibson Les Paul Standard Electric Guitar Honey Burst 100% Original w/ Case

Up for sale, a 1998 Gibson Les Paul Standard in 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Weighing 9lbs 14oz, this Les Paul is a particularly punchy and round-sounding instrument with great sustain, due in part to the un-chambered mahogany body, which also lends this Standard a certain smooth growl and warmth. The stock humbuckers have a wide tonal palette, with the 490R neck pickup featuring Alnico II magnets and a more vintage-spec, PAF-style sonic range, while the Alnico V magnet 498T bridge pickup is overwound for extra power and authority. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Les Paul Standard is setup with 10-46 strings, slinky action, and solid intonation.

The one-piece mahogany neck has a slender C profile carve with moderate shoulder and more heft and roundness in the higher registers, measuring .810" deep at the 1st fret and .960" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features pearloid trapezoid inlay, and the stock frets retain their full factory height with well-rounded crowns, showing only light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-9. The guitar plays cleanly up the straight neck with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut has Gibson's traditional 1 11/16" width, and the scale length measures 24 3/4". The headstock face retains the original "Standard" truss rod cover, and the original Grover Rotomatic tuning machines, a fairly uncommon feature.

All of the electronics work as they should with untouched solder joints and "Gibson USA"-embossed baseplates on the 490R and 498T humbucker pair. The chrome hardware is positively gleaming, and all of the original plastic parts are present including the gold speed knobs, cream pickup rings, pickguard, and switch surround. The original Honey Burst gloss nitro lacquer finish exhibits some pinhead-sized nicks on the lower bout body edge on top, with some scuffing around the three-way switch and across the pick path. There is prominent buckle rash across the back, yet not through the finish, and a few additional nicks and finish scratches on the back and body perimeter. The neck retains its smooth gloss, with just a few shallow marks along the profile length.

The original brown tolex Gibson USA hardshell case is included. The latches function as intended save for the "lock," and the leather handle is detached at one end.
