Up for sale, a 1998 Fender Stratocaster ‘62 vintage reissue model ST62-58US in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. This “Crafted in Japan” Strat is uncommon outside its country of origin, featuring USA-made American Vintage 57/62 single coil pickups with black bobbins, staggered alnico magnets, and cloth-covered leads.

Designed to pay homage to the golden era Pre-CBS Strat, this Stratocaster has a balanced, clear natural acoustic quality with a basswood body, maple neck and thick slab rosewood fretboard. The bridge pickup provides sweet sparkle and cut, the neck pickup is bold and round-sounding with a throaty zing and harmonic richness, and the "in-between" positions on the five-way pickup selector switch have a snappy, thinned-out quack. This Strat weighs 7lbs 14oz, professionally setup here at Mike & MIke’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with well-rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, gaining a hair more heft and roundness further up the fretboard, measuring .830” deep at the 1st fret and .965” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard sports a vintage-spec 7 1/4“ radius, and the stock slender fretwire is nigh-flawless. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the bone nut measures 1.650” (42mm) in width. On the headstock, the Kluson-style tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The “Crafted in Japan” script text and O-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate.

All of the electronics work as intended, and the trio of USA-made Fender single coil pickups are wired to the original harness with a standard Strat control layout. The tremolo has a full-size block, engaging smoothly and complete with the original arm. Plastics comprise the uniformly aged trio of knobs and switch tip, and the three-ply parchment guard.

Cosmetic wear on the three-tone Sunburst finish includes some pick scuffing on the bass-side body horn, a targeted area of light buckle wear at the treble side waist, and a handful of nicks along the lower bout perimeter and on the back. The neck profile retains its smooth ambered gloss.

A Marue Protection Gear-brand molded hardshell case is included, crafted from ABS resin with a gray plush interior.
