Up for sale, a 1998 Fender Jazzmaster '62 reissue electric guitar model JM66-85 TOM in 100% original condition and in perfect working order. A rare iteration of the '62 Jazzmaster platform, this "Crafted in Japan" Jazzmaster model features a factory-installed Tune-o-Matic bridge for increased stability. Rarely seen outside its country of origin and designed to be sold only within Japan, this Jazzmaster offers a broad range of vintage-flavored tonalities with a gloss Olympic White finish over an alder body.A textbook example of everything we love about the Jazzmaster, the instrument has plenty of twang and sparkle on tap, with a range of defined and powerful tones from the two single coil pickups, and warm, wooly sounds when switched to the Rhythm Circuit on the guitar's lower body horn. Weighing 8lbs 4oz, we've had this Jazzmaster professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, dialed in with 11-49 strings, low action and accurate intonation. The amber-tinted maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with nicely rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .815” deep at the 1st fret and .905” at the 12th. The thick rosewood fretboard has dot inlay and original slender vintage-style frets that have been leveled and crowned in the guitar's lifetime, currently showing just a touch of wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-2. The scale length is a full 25 1/2", the fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4" radius, and the nut measures 42.5mm in width (1.675"). The headstock sports a Pre-CBS style "Spaghetti" Jazzmaster logo, with Kluson-style tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The "Crafted in Japan" script text and O-prefix serial number are present above the four-bolt neck plate. All of the electronics work as they should, and the chrome hardware is bright and clean, including the original Tune-o-Matic bridge and vibrato unit which engages smoothly for quick warbles and surfy dives. Plastic parts include a red tortoise pickguard which shows some requisite pick scuffing, white pickup covers, and uniformly aged knobs. Cosmetic wear includes an area of finish chipping on the treble-side lower bout, with some additional dings and scuffs on the lower bout edge and where the forearm crosses the top. There is some aging and mottling of the gloss at the bass-side waist and on the inside edges of the body cutaways, with minor finish checking at the edges of the neck pocket. The neck has a smooth ambered gloss finish.A modern gigbag is included.***We are dealers for the Mastery M1 bridge, OMV-P Offset Vibrato, and Lollar pickups, any or all of which can be installed prior to shipment for an additional charge***
