Up for sale, a 1998 Epiphone Casino in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and factory paperwork. Crafted at the Peerless factory in Korea, this uncommon and discontinued left-handed iteration of the Casino stacks up well against the Elitist line, expertly made and sparingly played.Acoustically, the fully hollow all-maple body has a particularly broad and authoritative natural acoustic bark and cut, capturing both the clear note attack of maple as a tonewood and the warmth of the hollow construction. The P-90s pickups are wound to vintage spec with plenty of midrange presence and a glassy, percussive quality. Whether you want dynamic cleans or thick overdrive, these pickups can produce either with ease and with a refinement beyond most other modern Casino reissues. The guitar is featherweight at only 6lbs 3oz, professionally dialed in here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 roundwound strings, low action and accurate intonation. The neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with round shoulders in every register and a hair more overall heft in the higher registers of the fretboard, measuring .850" deep at the 1st fret and .905" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard is a particularly dark cut of this tonewood, featuring pearloid parallelogram inlay and flawless original medium jumbo frets. The frets retain their full factory height with well-rounded crowns, playing cleanly in every register up the 24 3/4" scale. The truss rod is responsive and ideally adjusted and the neck is straight, offering low action in every register and effortless playability. The nut measures 1 9/16" in width, and the headstock retains the original Kluson-style tuners which turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The electronics are untouched, and the chrome plated hardware is bright and clean with a speckling of patina. Plastics include the quartet of reflector cap knobs and pickguard with raised "E" epsilon which has some requisite light pick scuffing. The orange oval label is visible through the F hole, dating the instrument's production to 1998. The Sunburst finish is bold and glossy, framed by ambered binding, and this Casino exhibits sparingly little wear save or an errant tiny mark of faint finish scratch. The original black tolex hardshell case with gold E silkscreen on the lid is included, along with the original factory paperwork.
