Up for sale, a 1998 Collings C10 in excellent condition, complete with the original hardshell case. One of the premier acoustic builders of the modern era, Collings instruments exude quality, passion, and precise craftsmanship in every aspect of their construction. Built in Bill Collings' Austin, Texas shop during the late '90s, when a small crew still voiced each guitar by hand, the C10 is Collings' take on the small-bodied Gibson L-00 flat tops of the Depression era, sharing their narrow waist and small upper bout, with premium features including Pre-War scalloped bracing, grained ivoroid binding, and a high-gloss nitro lacquer finish. This one has been fitted with an aftermarket Fishman Acoustic Matrix Natural II active undersaddle pickup.

Weighing 4lbs 6oz, this Collings features a Sitka spruce top, Honduran mahogany back/sides/neck, and an ebony fingerboard. As per all Collings instruments, all woods are acquired, acclimated, and hand-selected by the master luthiers at Collings, and each component is picked with the "whole tonality of the end instrument in mind." The compact body delivers a dry, mid-forward voice with clear note separation and a tight, quick low end, along with plenty of volume and punch for its size. This Collings C10 has been professionally set up here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-53 bronze strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation.

Collings' nitro lacquer is applied with meticulous hand-sanding between coats, resulting in a final thickness of .005” to .007” and ensuring the tonewood resonance is not stifled in any way. This is a clean, well-kept example for a guitar approaching its 30th birthday, with cosmetic wear on the gloss Sunburst nitro lacquer finish limited to some minor nicks and faint finish scratches in the clear coat. The gloss on the neck profile has a few shallow marks that are not distracting to the palm.

The original Collings-branded TKL black tolex hardshell case with green plush interior is included.
