Up for sale, a 1997 Squier by Fender Vista Series Super-Sonic, refinished in Fiesta Red and retaining all original electronics and hardware. This original Fender Japan iteration of the Super-Sonic model was only available from 1997-98, boasting a compact and ergonomic offset basswood body, maple neck, and thick slab 22 fret rosewood fingerboard. The Super-Sonic is an extremely easy-playing and lively instrument, and the original humbucker pair is intact offering healthy output and plenty of punch and power. The guitar weighs 7lbs 6oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with nicely rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .815" deep at the 1st fret and .890" at the 12th. The slab rosewood fretboard retains the original vintage-style slender frets which show only light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-5, playing cleanly up the 24" scale. The nut measures 1 9/16" in width, and the reverse headstock features Kluson-style tuning machines that turn smoothly. The back of the headstock features the early Crafted in Japan text and A-prefix serial number, while the four-bolt neck plate with Squier "S" is inset into the body, flush with the back of the instrument.
All of the electronics function as intended, with the original humbucker pair wired to the Super-Sonic's unique dual Volume knob control array. The vibrato has a smooth response, complete with its original arm, with Fender-branded saddles that show notable surface patina. The semi-gloss Fiesta Red refinish was semi-professionally applied, with some finish chips down to the primer coat on the body perimeter and some minor finish scratches and marks consistent with honest use on the body as a whole. The neck profile retains the original smooth ambered gloss finish.
A gigbag is included.
