Up for sale, a 1997 Squier by Fender Vista Series Super-Sonic in exceptional condition and in perfect working order with a Blue Sparkle gloss finish. This original Fender Japan iteration of the Super-Sonic model was only available from 1997-98, with Blue Sparkle arguably being the most desirable finish offered. Upgraded from stock, this Super-Sonic features a pair of boutique, USA-made Fastback '59 zebra coil PAF-style humbuckers as well as CTS pots and USA Fender knobs.Boasting a compact and ergonomic offset basswood body, maple neck, and thick slab 22 fret rosewood fingerboard, the Super-Sonic is an extremely easy-playing and lively instrument. While the stock humbuckers lacked dynamic range and detail, the pair of Fastback '59 PAFs have a rich and sizzling range of tonalities, delivering both dynamic cleans and overdriven crunch with ease. The guitar weighs 7lbs 10oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 11-48 strings, low action, and accurate intonation. The maple neck has a modestly slender C profile carve with just enough roundness in the shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges. The dark slab rosewood fretboard retains the original vintage-style slender frets which show only light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-3, playing cleanly up the 24" scale. The nut measures 1 9/16" in width, and the reverse headstock features Kluson-style tuning machines that turn smoothly. The back of the headstock features the early Crafted in Japan text and A-prefix serial number, while the four-bolt neck plate with Squier "S" is inset into the body, flush with the back of the instrument. All of the electronics function as intended, with the upgraded Fastback '59 humbuckers wired to full-size CTS pots and a premium Sprague Orange Drop tone cap. The vibrato has a smooth yet deliberate response, currently setup with four springs with the bridge sitting flat on the top. The vibrato is complete with its original arm and full-size trem block, and the Fender-branded saddles show notable patina, yet all adjustment screws still turn. The Blue Sparkle finish has great dimension, showing just a few small marks on the body as a whole, mostly clustered just south of the knobs on the lower bout parameter, along with one extra filled strap button hole complete with blue sparkle touchup. The neck profile has a smooth ambered gloss finish, exhibiting just a few shallow nicks barely perceptible to the palm while fretting.A gigbag is included.
