Up for sale a 1997 Gibson Les Paul Standard in excellent, 100% original condition with a nitro lacquer Tobacco Sunburst finish on the carved maple top. This early modern Standard weighs 9lbs 8oz, delivering a lively, powerful acoustic voice that translates well through the humbuckers with the traditional tonewood compliment of a carved, bookmatched two-piece maple top, mahogany body, and one-piece mahogany neck. The 490R and 498T humbuckers have a wide tonal palette, with the Alnico II magnets in the neck pickup offering more chime and warmth, while the Alnico V bridge pickup has a cut and snarl that cuts through with classic Gibson sizzle and roar. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Les Paul Standard is setup with 10-46 strings, low action, and solid intonation. The mahogany neck has round medium C profile carve with generous shoulder in every register and more heft as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .835" deep at the 1st fret and .990" at the 12th. On the  rosewood fretboard, the original frets are intact, retaining their full factory height and plenty of meat, showing faint wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-3, and more moderate wear beneath the G and B extending until fret 7. The guitar plays cleanly in all registers, the neck is straight, and the truss rod is responsive and optimally adjusted. The nut has Gibson's traditional 1 11/16" width, and the rosewood fretboard sports pearl trapezoid inlays. The headstock retains the original "Standard" truss rod cover and features a set of original bolt bushing Gibson Deluxe double line tuners which have vintage-spec greened keystone buttons. All of the electronics work as they should, with the stock pickups and clean "Gibson USA" stamps on the baseplates. The wiring harness is untouched, with original solder joints and Gibson-embossed Alpha pots. The chrome hardware is positively gleaming, and all of the original plastic parts are present including the amber speed knobs, cream pickup rings, pickguard, and switch surround. The original nitro lacquer Tobacco Sunburst finish is very warm on the two-piece carved maple top, with a Walnut gloss on the mahogany back and sides, accented by deeply ambered cream binding. There is very tight, faint vertical lacquer checking on top as well as some finish chipping through the clear coat on the headstock parameter, with a bit of the vertical checking and faint cloudiness in the lacquer on the headstock edges common in this era. Wear is otherwise limited to buckle rash at the bass-side waist and central to the back with a few additional minor nicks on the back and binding edges. A molded hardshell case is included.
