1997 Gibson Howard Roberts Fusion Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar Tobacco Sunburst w/ Case

Up for sale, a 1997 Gibson Howard Roberts Fusion in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Designed for studio heavyweight and Jazz great Howard Roberts, the Fusion model is one of the more elegant and purpose driven archtops produced by Gibson and a synthesis of functionality and style. The semi-hollowbody maple body construction features a chromyte center block, and paired with the maple neck and bound ebony fingerboard, the natural acoustic tone is immediate and articulate. Boasting the stock pair of Gibson's 490R and 490T alnico magnet humbuckers, the guitar offers a fat, detailed neck position sound, with more percussive cut and sweet growl in the bridge position. The guitar weighs a mere 7lbs 11oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 11-49 roundwound strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve at the nut, with full shoulders in every register and more overall heft and roundness as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .815" deep at the 1st fret and .975" at the 12th. The ebony fingerboard has been professionally refretted with jumbo fretwire that has ample meat, showing no wear and playing cleanly up the 24 3/4" scale. The neck is straight, and the truss rod is responsive and adjusted for ideal relief. The nut measures 1 11/16" in width, upgraded to a hand-carved piece of bone for optimal note clarity and sustain. On the headstock, the guitar sports a set of tulip button Grover Rotomatic tuning machines with clean gold plating. The headstock retains the original truss rod cover, fitted with a set of gold Grover Rotomatic tuners with metal tulip buttons.

All of the electronics work as they should, and the guitar is notable both for its generous cutaway and also unique control placement. A Nashville Tune-o-Matic bridge and "Finger" tailpiece round out the hardware, and the gold plating is bright and clean, showing only light wear through the plating on the pickup cover edges and bass side fine tuners on the tailpiece. The white Gibson USA label is visible through the F hole, and the serial matches the number embossed on the headstock. Wear on the gloss Tobacco Sunburst nitro finish is limited to a small spot of light buckle rash central to the back, and some additional finish scratches and small nicks, mostly on the treble side edge of the back. There is also pick scuffing across the guard, and only a couple minor marks on top. The neck profile is flawless.

The original brown tolex Gibson hardshell case with pink plush interior is included.
