Up for sale, a 1997 Gibson Flying V '67 vintage reissue in perfect working order, complete with a Gibson USA hardshell case. A discontinued model with a prominently yellowed Alpine White gloss nitro lacquer finish, this heavily played Flying V hails from an increasingly well-regarded era of Gibson production known colloquially as the "good wood” era, boasting solid mahogany construction with an uncommon ebony fretboard.
This Flying V comes loaded with a pair of Gibson's 496R and 500T humbuckers: the 496R produces incredible sustain and cutting power with its ceramic magnet, adding more highs with increased definition and no mud in high gain scenarios. The 500T is one of Gibson’s most powerful pickups, containing a three ceramic magnet structure, which enables a no-holds-barred rock and roll crunch that never loses its rich combination of enhanced lows and crystal clear highs. Weighing 7lbs 8oz, this Flying V has been dialed in here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Mahogany
-Shape: '50s-style C (medium depth), measuring .845” 1st fret, .880” 12th
-Fretboard: Ebony, dot inlay
-Frets: Medium jumbo, refret, pristine
-Scale Length: 24 3/4“
-Nut: 1 11/16”, bone (upgraded)
-Tuners: Gibson Deluxe double-line, greened keystone buttons
-Serialization: 8-digit stamp dates to 1997
Body Specs:
-Wood: Mahogany
-Pickups: 496R (N), 500T (B) humbuckers
-Harness: Gibson-embossed pots, 1x CTS 500K replacement (Volume)
-Controls: Volume x2, Tone, three-way pickup selector switch
-Hardware: Nashville bridge, stopbar (replacement, originals included)
-Plastics: Black reflector cap knobs, three-ply white pickguard, cream switch tip
The dramatically ambered gloss Alpine White nitro lacquer finish shows numerous “tan lines” from removed stickers, with wear down to the bare mahogany on the body points, buckle rash and various dings and scuffs from use. The nitro gloss on the neck profile has a worn-in, easy-playing feel.
A Gibson USA hardshell case is included.
