Up for sale, a 1997 Gibson ES-135 in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and hangtag. Upgraded with Ron Ellis and Lollar P-90s (neck and bridge, respectively) this ES-135 also boasts an aluminum Nashville bridge, and all stock hardware/pickups are included.
Essentially a hybrid between an ES-335 and an ES-175, this unique (and discontinued) Gibson model boasts a thinline semi-hollow body, with a chromyte center block to improve note attack and reduce feedback. The result is a guitar that has the good looks of an ES-175 and the enduring popularity of the 335's feel and body depth. Not to be confused with the matte finish "Studio" versions of the ES-135, this is the version initially offered by Gibson with a top-tier gloss nitro lacquer Ebony finish.
Weighing 7lbs 12oz, tonewoods include a maple body, maple neck, and slab rosewood fretboard, and this guitar is smooth and resonant in its acoustic response. The upgraded Ron Ellis Ellisonic P90 pickup in the neck position is hand-wound by one of the most lauded pickup makers in the business, meticulously designed with proprietary techniques and materials to emulate the same clarity and smooth articulation of an early P-90 with alnico magnet slugs. The Lollar P-90 in the bridge position delivers a late ‘50s-style midrange-forward sound, warm and full with plenty of growl and presence. This ES-135 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
