Up for sale, a 1997 Gibson Custom Shop ES-336 “Snakehead” in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. The precursor to the CS-336, this early Custom Shop offering features semi-hollow construction, with the back and sides carved from a solid piece of mahogany, and a slender “snakehead” headstock. This ES-336 has been outfitted with a pair of Seymour Duncan Antiquity humbuckers and premium PIO tone caps.

The one-piece mahogany back/rims result in exceptional natural warmth and sustain, balanced by the articulation of the maple top. The Seymour Duncan Antiquity humbuckers were designed to be exceedingly faithful replicas of Seth Lover’s original PAFs, including being wound on Seymour’s original Leesona winding machine from the early Gibson factory in Kalamazoo. The neck pickup is warm and articulate; highly responsive and balanced with a slightly scooped midrange to ensure optimal clarity. The bridge pickup is wound slightly hotter for added brightness and balance, with a tight low end, perfect for sweet, sonorous melodic playing. This ES-336 weighs 7lbs 4oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Sunburst nitro lacquer finish highlights very subtle birdseye figuring in the maple on top, framed by cream binding. There is faint buckle rash across the back and just a few light finish scratches and minor marks on the body as a whole. The neck profile retains its smooth nitro gloss.
