Up for sale, a 1993 Gibson Chet Atkins CE in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and hangtags. Finished in custom color Wine Red, the CE is among the most unique guitars ever produced by Gibson; a chambered acoustic electric classical guitar, this unique instrument was designed in collaboration with Atkins and played extensively by Mark Knopfler. This Les Paul was ordered by Gibson’s Japanese distributor Yamano; Gibson’s USA-made guitars distributed via Yamano are often considered to be among their absolute best, featuring the highest quality woods picked for Gibson’s discerning Japanese audience.
For players that seek the feel and tonality of a traditional nylon string classical guitar, but with a feedback resistant body and a highly tweakable undersaddle pickup system, the Chet Atkins CE is one of the only, and arguably the best, options available. With Volume and (center detent) Tone thumbwheels on the upper bout, and individual trim pots in the control cavity to tailor the volume of each individual string, the CE's pickup has far more flexibility than a typical piezo. The guitar weighs 7lbs 9oz, with the traditional tonewood combination of a solid spruce top and chambered mahogany body. We've had this Chet Atkins CE professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with normal tension strings and easy-playing action.

-Shape: Classical D, measuring .865” 1st fret, .890” 9th fret

The gloss Wine Red nitro lacquer finish exhibits vertical checking, and cosmetic wear includes a few areas of buckle scuffing on the back and a number of smaller dings along the perimeter and on top at the lower bout. The nitro gloss on the neck profile is smooth to the palm, with a couple shallow nicks that have no impact on playability.
The original hardshell case is included, along with the hangtags.
