Up for sale, a 1997 Fender American Vintage '62 Stratocaster in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. This Strat features a host of upgrades including Fender Custom Shop Texas Special pickups, a professional refret with medium jumbo fretwire, and a carved bone nut. The original Olympic White finish has also yellowed consistently over the last 25 years, visually setting it apart from other American Vintage series examples.

Tonewoods include an alder body, maple neck, and dark slab rosewood fretboard, and the instrument has a particularly bold, lively natural acoustic tone, weighing 8lbs 6oz. The Custom Shop Texas Special single coils have traditional construction with black fiber bobbins, staggered alnico magnets and cloth-covered leads, wound slightly hotter than vintage spec for added midrange authority and cut. The pickups can still achieve a traditional Strat tonal palette, offering plenty of chime, sparkle, and quack, and the Texas Specials meter at 6.7k ohms in the bridge position and 6.2k at the neck, ideal for rich bell-like lead tones. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Strat features low action, accurate intonation, and 10-46 strings.

The maple neck has a particularly slender and fast-feeling C-shaped profile carve with nicely rounded shoulders in every register and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .785" deep at the 1st fret and .860" at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard is an extremely dark and tight-grained cut of this particular tonewood refretted with nigh flawless medium jumbo fretwire that has plenty of meat and well-rounded crowns. The fretboard retains its vintage spec 7 1/4" radius, and the guitar plays easily in every register up the 25 1/2" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The upgraded hand-carved bone nut measures 1.650" in width. On the headstock, the Fender Stratocaster waterslide decal is intact, and the Kluson-style Gotoh tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should. The neck heel and pocket have numerous factory stamps, with date stamps from January 26th and 28th of 1997.

The electronics include a trio of Fender's Custom Shop black bobbin Texas Special pickups wired to the original CTS pots which date to the 37th week of '97. Plastics include the three-ply parchment pickguard paired with ivory pickup covers and knobs, and all are extremely clean. The chrome plating on the hardware has plenty of shine, including the neck plate with V-prefix serial number. The vibrato works very smoothly with three springs and responds quickly and reliably for quick shimmies and deeper dives.

The gloss nitro lacquer Olympic White finish has gracefully and uniformly yellowed, with a tan line beneath the pickguard revealing a slightly whiter shade. Cosmetic wear is extremely sparse and limited to some small nicks and scuffs on the back between the neck plate and tremolo cavity cover, and sparingly little additional wear on the body as a whole. The deeply ambered gloss on the neck profile is extremely clean and smooth.

A modern Fender molded hardshell case with TSA latches is included.
