Up for sale, a 1997 Fender American Vintage ‘52 Telecaster in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original tweed hardshell case. A rare, limited run iteration of the ‘52 platform, this guitar boasts a Copper Metallic gloss nitro lacquer finish.

At 8lbs 6oz, this Tele offers plenty of midrange complexity and sonic authority, and tonewoods comprise an ash body and one-piece maple neck. Via the stock pair of black bobbin pickups, this Tele delivers the chewy twang and bell-like cut that put Fender on the map over seven decades ago. We've had this Tele professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, dialed in with 10-46 strings, accurate intonation, and low action.

The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with full shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, not as fat as later ’52 American Vintage profiles, measuring .840" deep at the 1st fret and .910" at the 12th. The maple fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4" radius, and the original slender fretwire retains its full factory height, with just a touch of wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-4. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1.650” in width, and the headstock has a pristine waterslide decal, with Kluson-style tuning machines that turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The neck heel is pencil dated 7-25-97, with additional factory stamps and dates on the heel and in the pocket spanning June-August, 97.

All of the electronics work as they should, with Fender's Broadcaster-style flat pole bridge pickup, vintage-spec three-way pickup selector wiring (Bridge/Neck/Neck+dark cap), and original CTS pots dating to the 18th week of ‘97. The chrome control plate, domed knurled knobs, and neck plate are positively gleaming, and even the original "ashtray" bridge cover is included over the serialized bridge base. This guitar used all flathead mounting screws to match vintage spec, and the brass bridge saddles have an even dusting of surface patina.

The nitro lacquer Copper Metallic finish was a limited run, custom color option, and cosmetic wear is limited to a handful of minor dings along the lower bout body edge, with a few small chips on the bass-side lower bout edge on top, as well as a scant few faint scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The neck profile retains its smooth ambered gloss.

The original tweed hardshell case with orange plush interior is included, along with the "ashtray" bridge cover.
