Up for sale, a 1997 Fender Telecaster Custom '62 vintage reissue left handed model in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order with factory-installed Fender USA-made Texas Special pickups. This very early "Crafted in Japan" Telecaster is a rare model, meant only for the Japanese domestic market and features a gloss Candy Apple Red finish and white binding on the top and back of the instrument for a classic Fender look. Officially model TL62B-80TX, this guitar comes stock from the factory with Fender USA-made Texas Special black bobbin pickups. If you're looking for a pickup that has a bit more kick than your traditional Tele pickup while still retaining the twang, snap, and snarl associated with that hallowed single coil, the Texas Special is a perfect choice. Even with the slightly increased output from the pickups, the guitar still has Fender's signature clarity and chime, with biting treble response in the bridge position and smooth, sweet tones at the neck. The guitar weighs 8lbs 1oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings and low action.

The maple neck has a medium C profile carve with generous shoulder and faintly rolled fretboard edges, filling out with a hair more roundness and heft in the higher registers of the fretboard, measuring .840" deep at the 1st fret and .915" at the 12th. The notably thick slab rosewood fretboard features a vintage-spec 7 1/4" fretboard radius and retains the original slender fretwire which has its full factory height, showing just a touch of wear beneath the plain strings on frets 2-6. The guitar plays easily up the 25 1/2" scale, and the neck is straight with an optimally adjusted and responsive truss rod. The nut measures 1.660" in width (just shy of 1 11/16"). On the headstock, the Kluson-style Gotoh tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The "Crafted in Japan" script text is present above the four-bolt neck plate, and the serial number is stamped into the bridge base with an A-prefix.

All of the stock electronics work as they should, with the USA-made Fender Texas Special pickups governed by Master Volume and Tone controls with flat top knurled knobs. The hardware shows faint surface patina on the bridge base and spiral saddles, with brighter chrome plating on the control plate and knobs. The gloss Candy Apple Red finish is accented by a three-ply mint green pickguard, and cosmetic wear is limited to a few faint marks at the bass side lower bout edge and light finish checking extending from the edges of the neck pocket. The neck sports a pristine smooth ambered gloss finish.

The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
