Up for sale, a 1997 Fender Jazzmaster '62 reissue electric guitar in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This "Crafted in Japan" Jazzmaster model JM66 MH was designed for the Japanese domestic market, rarely seen outside its country of origin and boasting a rare Lake Placid Blue gloss finish and matching headstock.

Tonewoods include an alder body, maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard, and at 7lbs 13oz, this Jazzmaster is a medium weight example with a smooth, clear acoustic voice. The instrument has plenty of sparkle and cut on tap, with a range of defined and powerful tones from the two single coil pickups, and warm, wooly sounds when switched to the Rhythm Circuit on the guitar's lower body horn. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, this Jazzmaster is dialed in for low action and accurate intonation with 11-49 roundwound strings.

The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with moderate shoulder and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .805” deep at the 1st fret and .915” at the 12th. The thick rosewood fretboard is a dark cut of this tonewood with dot inlay and original slender vintage-style frets that retain their full factory height with well-rounded crowns, showing no wear. The guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 42mm in width (1.650"). The Lake Placid Blue-finished headstock sports a Pre-CBS style "Spaghetti" Jazzmaster logo, with Kluson-style tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The "Crafted in Japan" script text and O-prefix serial number are present above the four-bolt neck plate.

All of the electronics work as they should, and the chrome hardware is bright and clean. The vibrato unit engages smoothly for quick warbles and surfy dives, working in concert with the original bridge. Plastics are near mint, including a parchment pickguard and ivory pickup covers and knobs. The Lake Placid Blue custom color finish is a particularly rare option and there is very light greening of the clear coat, most evident on the headstock face. There's barely a scratch on the guitar save for a spot of impact and a corresponding finish chip on the lower bout body edge. The ambered gloss on the neck profile is flawless.

***We are dealers for the Mastery M2 bridge, OMV-P Offset Vibrato, and Lollar pickups, any or all of which can be installed prior to shipment for an additional charge***
