Up for sale, a 1997 Boss Voice Transformer VT-1 in near-mint condition and in perfect working order. This Boss effects unit was designed, as the name suggests, to transform the human voice, effectively offering a Vocoder, Harmonizer, de-tuner, pitch/formant shifter and more in one compact unit, with built in digital reverb and four savable user presets (four factory presets). Notably, the VT-1 enables separate control of pitch and formant, enabling voice alterations without the “chipmunk” effect that plagues many other similar units.
The VT-1 does an excellent job of transforming the human voice into various robotic sounds, and also plays well with guitar for thick, detuned tones and octave-shifted effects. The VT-1 features mic-input with adjustable trim level, functioning with synths and other tabletop equipment. The user-friendly control configuration includes Pitch (+/- 1 octave), Formant (+/-10), and Mix Balance (Wet/Dry) sliders, with an additional slider for Reverb. The Robot effect is toggled by an independent button, and there are also controls for the savable presets.
There are just a few minor scratches on the blue/orange enclosure. The graphics are clean, and the original slider caps are present. The serialized sticker dates this VT-1 to October, 1997.
