Up for sale, a 1996 Gibson Limited Edition Les Paul Standard, complete with the original hardshell case and hangtags. This Les Paul began its life as a Limited Edition Goldtop before being fully kitted out in the style of the iconic Zakk Wylde “Grail” Les Paul, upgraded with a pair of EMGs and refinished with the classic Bullseye design on top. This particular Les Paul was originally ordered by Gibson’s Japanese distributor Yamano; Gibson’s USA-made guitars distributed via Yamano are often considered to be among their absolute best, featuring the highest quality woods picked for Gibson’s discerning Japanese audience.
Standard tonewoods include a mahogany body, maple top, one-piece mahogany neck, and bound rosewood fingerboard, and this Les Paul weighs 9lbs 8oz. The upgraded pair of EMG pickups are built for gain and power: the EMG 81 in the bridge position utilizes ceramic magnets and close aperture coils, designed for optimal note detail, enhanced high end cut, and fluid sustain, engineered so that lead work will slice through even the densest mix with an aggressive snarl. The EMG 85 in the neck position features Alnico V magnets and close aperture coils, offering incredible high end cut and fluid sustain. This Les Paul Standard has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The headstock exhibits a professionally addressed V-shaped repair below the Limited Edition graphic. The repair is smooth to the touch and structurally sound.
Cosmetic wear on the refinished Bullseye top is limited to a few small finish chips along the bass-side binding edge, with a few minor dings in the mahogany on the back and body perimeter. The nitro gloss on the neck profile is flawless save for one tiny nick behind fret 4 that is virtually undetectable to the palm.
The original Gibson USA brown tolex hardshell case is included, along with the Gibson/Yamano hangtags. The central locking latch on the case is non-functional.
